Get Ready for UKGE 2024: Take The Throne

If you can sit down at any table with a deck of cards and play a fun, competitive card game, then you have the makings of a great game on your hands (and table). Indeed, I think there is a popularity swing towards these games as a counter to the huge boxed games that have held priority in recent years. Take The Throne looks to be this sort of simple setup and play title.

Take the Throne is the first card game created by the Cornish-based Deathtrap Games, who are bringing it to UKGE 2024, before launching the crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound this Summer. Getting to actually play a tabletop game before the crowdfunding! Imagine it!

Take the Throne is a medieval-themed, fast-paced, tactical card game for 3-5 players. The aim is to get 8 victory points; the best way to gain victory points is to sit on the throne each round. However, only one player can hold the throne as the Monarch so card selection is key! You’ll find yourself second-guessing the other players, trying to figure out what they have in their hands versus what you are holding.

All you lovely folk heading to UKGE 2024 will be able to demo the game on the Take the Throne stand at Hall 2, stand 1094. Their Gamefound campaign plans to launch in June and can be viewed at: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/jon-l/take-the-throne.
