I have said many times that I love cosy games. I am also an unapologetic nerd and lover of fiction. When Private Division and Weta Workshop revealed their Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit inspired cosy-game, Tales of the Shire, I was in heaven. Now, we have a full reveal trailer!
Launching in the second half of 2024 on the Nintendo Switch system, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Tales of the Shire looks set to make my hairy-footed fantasies come true. According to the developers, we’ll get the chance to experience a storybook return to Middle-earth’s most inviting region by living life as a Hobbit in the idyllic town of Bywater. I’m very much looking forward to unwinding in the nearby forests and fields, visiting the townsfolks’ local shops, and obviously enjoying second breakfast. Mainly the last one really.
As you would expect, Tales of the Shire will allow you to create and personalise your own Hobbit character before settling into and decorating a Hobbit home. Honestly, I’d stay there but there’s cooking, fishing, foraging, gardening, and more relaxing activities waiting too, appparently. Of course, you can also interact with the other locals to build up your relationships as well as the town of Bywater.
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game is coming later this year to the Nintendo Switch system, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. For more information, check out the game on X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and visit www.talesoftheshire.com.
